The new terminal at the airport will open on Wednesday.

Zayed International Airport will replace Abu Dhabi International Airport.

The new name will take effect on February 9, 2024, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office.

President Sheikh Mohamed directed the adjustment, which comes just days before the airport's new Terminal A opens on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, inspected the new terminal.

According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, he stated that the crucial initiative was a big step forward for the emirate's economic and sustainable growth.

Sheikh Khaled emphasized the necessity of continuing investment in the tourist and aviation industries.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad, Adviser for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Airports, stated that the megaproject will serve as a "major gateway" to strengthen the emirate's worldwide standing.

Terminal A, which is three times the size of the existing terminal and serves 117 destinations worldwide, will improve the frequency and reach of flights to and from Abu Dhabi, according to airport authorities.

It will be able to accommodate up to 45 million passengers each year when it opens.

Airlines will phase their operations before beginning flights next month.

After Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways conducts a ceremonial flight on October 31, airlines will shift to the new Terminal A building in three stages over a two-week period from November 1 to November 14, the emirate's airport operator said this month.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi and 15 other foreign airlines will begin flying from the new terminal on November 1.

Etihad Airways will begin operating 16 flights from the terminal on November 9, followed by 28 other carriers on November 14.
